Julian is one of Aotearoa’s most experienced watermen, offering private, high-level guidance tailored to your goals, whether that’s refining technique, building confidence, or accessing new environments.

With over 20 years of experience across commercial, recreational, and competitive diving, Julian has built his life around the ocean. Beginning his journey as a competitive spearfisher, he went on to claim seven New Zealand national titles before shifting his focus to guiding and training the next generation of divers.

As a certified Freedive & Watermanship Instructor (One Ocean International), Julian combines technical expertise with real-world experience to help divers of all levels feel confident and prepared in the ocean, especially those new to freediving and spearfishing. He also holds advanced commercial diving qualifications (ADAS Level 3 Underwater Construction), is an Inshore Launch Master, and is fully trained in first aid.

Julian is co-host of the popular spearfishing show South Seas Spearo and now dedicates his time to sharing his knowledge of New Zealand’s world-class fishery and stunning coastline. Whether it’s guiding clients to catch their own kaimoana, exploring pristine dive sites aboard Kiwa, or simply experiencing the magic of the moana, his goal is always the same: to create unforgettable adventures while fostering respect, sustainability, and good etiquette in the ocean.
